Participate ~ Delegate Information

Edinburgh 2010 is a project of the world church, which is governed by a General Council made up of 20 representatives from the Evangelical, Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal and Protestant Christian traditions. During its last meeting in April 2009 the General Council decided to invite 250 mission leaders to come to Edinburgh next year. (see news release May 8, 2009).

This site explains the process for being selected to attend Edinburgh 2010 onsite.

More information for invited delegates (registration, travel, accommodation, programme etc.) will be provided as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding the registration process, please contact our event organiser Amy Middlemass at Amy.Middlemass (at) ed.ac.uk

Who will attend the Edinburgh conference, 2-6 June 2010?

250 mission leaders from all over the world will come to Edinburgh in June 2010 to witness to Christ today.

About 70 delegates will be appointed by the Edinburgh 2010 Study Process Monitoring Group. These delegates are in some way already involved in the ongoing study process through leadership of groups working on the main study themes, the transversal topics, and/or regional and confessional Edinburgh 2010 events.

Up to a further 180 delegates will be chosen by the stakeholders of Edinburgh 2010. The stakeholders make their decisions independently, but are asked to appoint as delegates those whom they think will be well placed to take back into the life of their own Church their experience of the conference.

Both the Study Process Monitoring Group and the stakeholders of Edinburgh 2010 committed themeselves to appoint as delegates 60% from the global south, 50% women, and 20% under the age of 30. By implementing this policy the General Council wanted to ensure that the World Church is represented properly.

Please note attendance of the Edinburgh 2010 conference will be by invitation only, through churches, church organisations and institutions. There is no application procedure. However, we invite you to register for the Sunday Celebrations in Edinburgh (see below).
