Participate ~ Sunday Celebrations

On 6 June 2010 the Edinburgh Conference reaches its culmination. Delegates will be joined by local and international visitors to commemorate all that we have received from God through many different expressions of faith down the centuries - and to commit ourselves to witness to Christ today.

Christians all over the world are invited to join the celebrations online, or to set up an event in their local community to express joy, thanksgiving and commitment in mission.

Sunday Morning at Local Churches

Church communities in Edinburgh and beyond welcome Edinburgh 2010 delegates to join them for morning worship and lunch afterwards. Transport to local churches will be arranged.

The Sunday morning service at 11.30 am local time at St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, will be a special one to mark the Centenary. The guest preacher will be Rev. Lee Chul-Shin, Senior Pastor of Young Nak Presbyterian Church, Seoul, South Korea, a key supporter of Edinburgh 2010.

Sunday Afternoon at the Assembly Hall

On Sunday afternoon delegates, local and international visitors are invited to the final celebration at the Assembly Hall in Edinburgh, the historic venue of the 1910 World Missionary Conference. The service starts at 15:00 BST (14:00 GMT) and concludes by 18:00 BST (17:00 GMT). The Archbishop of York, Dr. John Sentamu, is to be the guest preacher, and will be joined by representatives of the Evangelical, Pentecostal, Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

Due to limited space in the Assembly Hall the event will be ticketed. Tickets are to be distributed fairly between people from Britain and Ireland, and people from other countries who are either based in the UK or who will be able to make a special trip to join the Edinburgh celebrations in June. Please note that visitors are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs as well as visa arrangements. The conference itself is for delegates only, and it will not be possible for any visitors to attend any part of the conference.

Tickets for people in BRITAIN AND IRELAND are being distributed by the national ecumenical bodies (ACTS, CTE, CTYUN, CTI) to a wide range of churches. After this initial allocation any local tickets left over may be distributed after Easter to individuals. Please register your interest by an email to contact (at) scot2010.org.uk.

For the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY, either resident in the UK or coming from abroad,  please register your interest in attending the final celebration by an email to: jadam (at) cofscotland.org.uk. We are sorry if limited space means we cannot respond to all requests.
